How does my client use the food lists with Exchange Meal Planning?

In an Exchange Meal Plan, all foods and serving sizes listed in an exchange list are equal to 1 point. So for instance if it says 1/4 C Oatmeal in a carbohydrate exchange list, this is for 1 point for carbohydrates. Then 1/2 C Oatmeal (double the serving size) would be equal to 2 points. The macronutrient point values for all exchange food lists are as follows: 1 Point Carbohydrate = 15g, 1 Point Protein = 7g, and 1 Point Fat = 5g.
